This is the year that I have decided that I am going to take control of my space and life and finally get organized. Now by getting organized I mean clearing ALL the clutter, purging and donating. We have so many toys, magazines and STUFF all around that house. SO many things that we simply DO NOT need. I started the process by going through the kids toys. Since Santa came to this house and brought way too many things I decided that we needed to eliminate <strike>some</strike> a lot of the toys, especially those toys that you get from Happy Meals. I had to decide what to keep and what to donate (and then what to just throw away)<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFEZVfH_PTOiXRvPmQBb__eGHLNjCKUz-hNLKQX7DOZebiBz3lsGTE-7pCwdwej8QCGT2AlWD0Hs7v1b0ziUOv-P6rFlXlMOx_9sWmEnVRmhX9PtuMQP4IJ5WPGwImdb-s3r4aNekcFds/s1600/feistyredhair.jpg" height="213" width="320" /></div>

<br />
We filled a large bag with toys and I quickly dropped them off at a local thrift shop to donate. Then I got all my maternity clothes and any other clothing that I didn't wear or need and donated them. I also put together a bag of baby girl clothing, blankets and toys and gave it to a young lady that was in need. I also sold my baby swing. That day I took 10 large garbage bags and 8 large diaper boxes to the local thrift store and gave the young lady 3 large garbage bags of stuff. That's A LOT of crap that was in my house and you know what? I don't miss it, heck I hardly even know that it is missing or that it was even here to begin with. So really, what does that tell you. We all probably have a lot of stuff that we really don't need in our life.<br />

<br />
With purging things and un-necessary stuff, comes the realization that I get to reorganize some spaces and create new areas in my house. This year (2014) I want to be the year I finally get my act in gear. I want to organize my life, my house and my spirit. I NEED to spend more time on me, remembering who I am besides a mom. I am much more than a mom, and I need to reconnect with me. I want to be able to have an organized work space so that I am able to spend the time doing hobbies I enjoy, like crafting, party planning and design. I am in the process of planning our basement renovation (which is starting in 2 months or so- YEEHAW!) and I decided that I am going to create a craft room/office for me...yup...not a play room for the kids but rather a dedicated spot area, just.for.me!<br />
<br />
So with this, I leave you. I wish I had taken pictures of all the crap I purged but I didn't, so the pictures you see in this post are from fellow bloggers.<br />

I do promise that I will be back this week with some new posts. I think I am going to do a series on organization because, well frankly, the clutter and mess is really getting to me. We are in the midst of getting the basement de-cluttered and I am purging a lot because in the spring we are going full force with a basement renovation! If you've seen some of my previous posts, we were debating either a basement renovation, kitchen remodel or a backyard oasis. Well, the basement renovation definitely won, hands down. I'd say it'll be the most practical decision. We'll be able to throw the kids playroom down there, a family television space with a comfy sectional and a nice area for me to do my crafts. Still wish I had a dedicated craft room, might see if I can work that into the plan somehow. Although, we are still getting a deck, french doors and **fingers crossed** a hot tub! The deck will just be a simple one, big enough for a BBQ and a patio set.<br />
<br />Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17729809091370326402noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1761874569634836130.post-41830050827466070672013-11-11T10:18:00.000-08:002013-11-11T10:18:58.950-08:00Thinking about wallsWe are doing some major renovations to the house in the spring. We were all over the map trying to decide what we want to get done. Do we want a deck and pool? Outdoor living in the summer is great here, but that's it. 2 (maybe 3) months of the year we would be able to enjoy a pool. Hardly seems worth it, to spend $65-$70K on renovations we can't use all.the.time. So I've decided that we are going to renovate the kitchen and the basement. The basement is a must. We need the extra space. With the kidlets getting older, the toys are getting out of control, and while we do have a playroom on the main floor I want to open that up and make it into a dining room (we host most of the main holidays at our house and our small dining room just isn't cutting it).<br />
<br />
I want something like this:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh499ExCJqhGqmImrIgFwypL-ZgvdUvMwZge03wZ8B9CPswtgPJ1DNpz4-_nykkIphY3guHa1xlJ_dIE0tBn7M6P28aWyUMXitClrnRHyq2lEi4HsAzeCN3BYss8DfZmKel3GDlrcS1jCA/s1600/dining+room+blog.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh499ExCJqhGqmImrIgFwypL-ZgvdUvMwZge03wZ8B9CPswtgPJ1DNpz4-_nykkIphY3guHa1xlJ_dIE0tBn7M6P28aWyUMXitClrnRHyq2lEi4HsAzeCN3BYss8DfZmKel3GDlrcS1jCA/s320/dining+room+blog.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
seaside interiors</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I know that this is a family room, but it is similar to what I am envisioning for the opening between my living room and dining room. The wall that we would be removing a a load bearing wall, so my theory is to have some pillars that will help carry the load. I know that we will most likely have to put in a new beam, but I totally think it will be worth it to be able to open up the two rooms. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Now onto the kitchen, since we would be moving the dining room table to the "new" dining room, our current space would become an extension of the kitchen. I want to take down this wall and bench and that wall next to the stove. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEghL0meBHtXmPnTjQ5VrzImPP3Q-eabgo8ZbMbG3yHrJkTWM9uvsiM3sfhQ3o8heK2G87YVo9gUHV-EejGYusbdyuk6BoCBglksk7wDCCJI6YoKV_HgH4aVTbiu3KlV3oeaMzaWJJsE-fU/s1600/wall+bench+blog.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEghL0meBHtXmPnTjQ5VrzImPP3Q-eabgo8ZbMbG3yHrJkTWM9uvsiM3sfhQ3o8heK2G87YVo9gUHV-EejGYusbdyuk6BoCBglksk7wDCCJI6YoKV_HgH4aVTbiu3KlV3oeaMzaWJJsE-fU/s320/wall+bench+blog.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Then continue the run of cabinetry down along that wall, moving the current door down just a little. It would make room for me to be able to get a larger fridge (33" maybe even 36") and a pantry (20" wide). I then could do something like this: </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgUJ2QDNHwvCZKEpd5lLyc6eUVZYQSd21FO7h8Ll4F0_o30JUj3T4zfiQMIZmBSN4TFuOIZgC2BY4GM2qvSph2Fr3NLyFJYw0RysiRcxeM6BsK6XMODxSQx4wv0q9yefa8M5dBoFDcF1eQ/s1600/breakfast+blog.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgUJ2QDNHwvCZKEpd5lLyc6eUVZYQSd21FO7h8Ll4F0_o30JUj3T4zfiQMIZmBSN4TFuOIZgC2BY4GM2qvSph2Fr3NLyFJYw0RysiRcxeM6BsK6XMODxSQx4wv0q9yefa8M5dBoFDcF1eQ/s320/breakfast+blog.jpg" width="286" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
along the same wall and then the door to the outside would just be to the left of the first cabinet. On the opposite wall where I have this now:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiFKlbS1_QUDTwu7n31cMWQEqHQHwXzpVXcWqpD2UI0CyUaChwBAH3EPX-ioFgNYEVK7MdHZnHD8pAVKZcainOyzpTCm-IokH6iElZzhWuhJS2Z6XZZM_Eq8H13Zc0W6oe6ySKIk4HLkFM/s1600/kitchen+wall.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiFKlbS1_QUDTwu7n31cMWQEqHQHwXzpVXcWqpD2UI0CyUaChwBAH3EPX-ioFgNYEVK7MdHZnHD8pAVKZcainOyzpTCm-IokH6iElZzhWuhJS2Z6XZZM_Eq8H13Zc0W6oe6ySKIk4HLkFM/s320/kitchen+wall.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I would add a large opening and have 18" cabinets on each side of the opening. I would also make the island larger. Aiming for a kitchen feel like this one: </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I am loving these colors together. Very classic and I could easily add my own "splash" of color and change it when I get bored. So that is plan for now. I need to get some quotes on cabinetry and counters and all that fun stuff. Wish we could start now.</div>

<br />
<br />
A couple of weekends ago hubs and I bundled up the kidlets on a beautiful autumn day and went out to a local farm that was having a family fun day. Pumpkins, petting zoo and a corn maze. The kids were in all their glory. They also have a market where you can buy fresh, local, organic fruits and veggies. We're heading out there again this coming weekend, so I'll post more about the produce in another post. This post I'll focus solely on my children and their fabulous fall attire.<br />
<br />
Oh my little Miss M, she is truly my little fashionista, but she is also a fire cracker and I have a hard time getting her to sit still for a picture.<br />

These were the two best pictures out of 1 <strike>million</strike> dozen that I took. I swear I just kept hitting the button and the camera just keep taking pictures. I figured I'd get a good one eventually. (and yes, her bangs are in her eyes, but I will not cut her hair. I am waiting for them to be all one length, She is so close how.Clips stay in the hair for a short while and then get pulled out.)</div>

If you have two o more children, you will totally understand and get the next little bit I am about to type. Taking a picture with both children, looking and smiling at the camera is one of the hardest things to do! One will be looking and smiling while the other one is completely goofing off! Ugh, it is so frustrating at times but totally worth it when you finally get that great picture of the two of them.</div>

They had so much fun and I had so much fun dressing them up. Connor's sweater I found at a local thrift shop, it's a Children's Place football sweater- so fitting for fall and football season! Madeline's smocked dress I bought last fall. She was growing like a weed and I thought for sure that she would be in size 24 months before she actually turned 2 (in February.) Well I was wrong, the dress is really big on her and I have a feeling we will get 2 (possibly 3) fall seasons from this dress. Although, it'll be hard for the shoppin' momma in me not to buy her something new for next year. </div>

<br />
Halloween. It happens once a year and I love it. Well actually I love the dressing up, maybe it's the idea of being able to pretend to be someone else (or and maybe the bags and bags of candy help <strike>a little</strike> a lot!) I am having a hard time this year deciding on what Madeline could be. I always envisioned having a girl I would dress her up in cute "girly" costumes (princess, ladybug, butterfly etc)<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://images.costumeexpress.com/mgen/merchandiser/70815.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://images.costumeexpress.com/mgen/merchandiser/70815.jpg" width="204" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41cW21oRadL.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41cW21oRadL.jpg" width="266" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://img0110.popscreencdn.com/155405712_new-old-navy-baby-toddler-girl-owl-3p-halloween-costume-.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://img0110.popscreencdn.com/155405712_new-old-navy-baby-toddler-girl-owl-3p-halloween-costume-.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
These are all so sweet and I am sure she would look adorable in any of these. We had a friend's birthday party a few weekends ago and since his birthday is in October they were having a Halloween themed party--so fun! Connor was all set, he has a million costumes that he uses as dress up. I told him to pick one and then for actual Halloween we would go and buy him his costume. He picked Spiderman. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I was all set on Madeline being a bumblebee because we had the costume from when Connor was 2 but then one day I was out shopping and came across this adorable ladybug "girly" costume tutu and all!! How could I leave it!! So needless to say I didn't. She looked ever so sweet.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
While we were getting ready to go to the party, both kids were dressed and ready to go and Maddie found Connor's Spiderman mask and put it on. She started waking around making "monster" noises. *sigh*</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
That's my girl, she can be the girlest girl that I know and turn tomboy in 2.3 seconds flat. She is still going to be a ladybug for Halloween but I just know that next year if she wants to be a superhero, I'll let her. As much as mommy wants a girly girl, I want Madeline to be herself!</div>

Yes, 4 years old. Hard to believe that I am now the momma of one smart, funny, amazing little boy. He loves everything from dinosaurs to robots and when I asked him what theme he wanted for his birthday and said "O-Bots" (Robots) He is in love with everything robots. So needless to say this momma aims to please. So here is a birthday picture post. Enjoy!<br />

With the dining room, I "hummed" and thought long and hard about the effect I was going for. I wanted clean and contemporary, yet warm and inviting. How was I going to achieve both those effects in that room. I don't think I've come to that yet, like you have seen in a previous post, I made beautiful grey and white striped curtains.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhQeHjeMAoWIYLuaPMb7YOcNR6BFZlXRiTjE9XK6ArOy0Bkz1nxlbTmhQiASK-GuBWoEY8hJAc9GdGbIFt6TI-OHIu08SmLingXeTwupE6RvVc1JPY_DpNalLaox_ltA2biyn1tmZrnpVA/s1600/1176282_10153192010830207_1353344608_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhQeHjeMAoWIYLuaPMb7YOcNR6BFZlXRiTjE9XK6ArOy0Bkz1nxlbTmhQiASK-GuBWoEY8hJAc9GdGbIFt6TI-OHIu08SmLingXeTwupE6RvVc1JPY_DpNalLaox_ltA2biyn1tmZrnpVA/s320/1176282_10153192010830207_1353344608_n.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
I "loved" them (yes you read that right...."loved" as in past tense.) See I told you, hard at making a decision. I thought I would always love them, but they are not me. Once the room came together, it was just TOO cold and well, like hubs said "too white". Everything was grey or white and it really didn't go with the warmness we were trying to achieve.<br />
<br />
While searching the internet all weekend, trying to find that one picture that screams "that is what I want" I came across one. It was like a light come one. The kitchen has similar counter tops (well mine are laminate- but the colors are close), I just fell.in.love!<br />

You can't really see it but the subway tiles are in two tones and are beige in color, something I think I could easily achieve with a tile like this: </div>

The cabinets are painted in Sherwin Williams Antique Ivory with a coffee glaze over them. My cabinets are very similar to this, so I could easily paint them and apply the glaze. The wall color is a.maz.ing! I love it, it's Restoration Hardware Bay Laurel. I would probably hunt for something similar to it since I don't have a RH locally. This is the color...I love the hues and how in one right it reads green and it other lights it reads blue....<br />

<div style="text-align: left;">
I am sorry if this dining room post turned into a kitchen renovation post. I am just itching at getting that room started.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Here is the beautiful ikea sink that I want, but I just want a single bowl. Now tell me why, I still haven't figured this out yet. Ikea will ship the double but not the single bowl? I only want the single.....sigh.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.ikea.com/ca/en/images/products/domsjo-double-bowl__57728_PE163370_S4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://www.ikea.com/ca/en/images/products/domsjo-double-bowl__57728_PE163370_S4.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
and what is a sink without a beautiful faucet, I love this one from Home Depot</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.homedepot.ca/wcsstore/HomeDepotCanada/images/catalog/22177.5297YPY_4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://www.homedepot.ca/wcsstore/HomeDepotCanada/images/catalog/22177.5297YPY_4.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
So now you can get a real feel for how I want my house to feel like. Beachy, coastal, warm and inviting and the grey in the dining room just isn't doing it for me. Although, I may be able to keep it if I change the curtain fabric. Maybe to something like this one...all the colors are in this striped material, grey, aqua and green.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here is my inspiration put together, all next to each other. I think the colors could work together.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiVbbzfVvtDiSYYZgb_Ke-EUDc4tGnhndCvJUE5zDeGEo0nrLpKPzUbmoiLWaWIzy4sJs49KCklUrcdX1zR4pKRbn77xZIFxeDtUQjvVhfQOd397VsxjRDP3XMGj-BHa16BGcMHt7jm0Wo/s1600/Dining+Blog.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiVbbzfVvtDiSYYZgb_Ke-EUDc4tGnhndCvJUE5zDeGEo0nrLpKPzUbmoiLWaWIzy4sJs49KCklUrcdX1zR4pKRbn77xZIFxeDtUQjvVhfQOd397VsxjRDP3XMGj-BHa16BGcMHt7jm0Wo/s640/Dining+Blog.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So, here I am at a crossroads. Trying to make the most out of a paint situation that looks like it may have been the wrong choice. Let's see if I can make this work.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17729809091370326402noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1761874569634836130.post-88326841417373542812013-09-23T13:22:00.000-07:002013-09-23T13:22:17.736-07:00Paint can do wonders<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I painted. Yes that is correct. I bit the bullet and painted the dining room. I went through <strike>50 million</strike> 5 tester cans of different colors. I couldn't decide. I didn't get a tester can of this one, will I regret it? Who knows. The color is Behr's Burnished Clay, has a beigy grey feeling...kinda like a greige.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I started by prepping the room, taping everything.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEglc3sIU_mLw5yo4-0Jt62xUzl3t9rEaGUDB1z2L1e5T-JXY-KlCvr-r9qVYOYAgpEAGV5c-iwHQP04I9jlnuSkGaXM2IUtrLwIROspn-iMC67q4QFeM2e4BN6M0uGaA8CpCDAk_m1jJOE/s1600/dining+room+reno+2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEglc3sIU_mLw5yo4-0Jt62xUzl3t9rEaGUDB1z2L1e5T-JXY-KlCvr-r9qVYOYAgpEAGV5c-iwHQP04I9jlnuSkGaXM2IUtrLwIROspn-iMC67q4QFeM2e4BN6M0uGaA8CpCDAk_m1jJOE/s320/dining+room+reno+2.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEglc3sIU_mLw5yo4-0Jt62xUzl3t9rEaGUDB1z2L1e5T-JXY-KlCvr-r9qVYOYAgpEAGV5c-iwHQP04I9jlnuSkGaXM2IUtrLwIROspn-iMC67q4QFeM2e4BN6M0uGaA8CpCDAk_m1jJOE/s1600/dining+room+reno+2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><br /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Then I went around and cut into all the corners. My mom was here to watch the kids for the morning, thank goodness because I would never have been able to do it all with them. Here is another view of the room , before the first coat went on.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Here is the room with one coat on and before I painted the sideboard. </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I wasn't just painting the walls, I had to paint the sideboard as well. That pine color really dated it. So off the doors go....</div>

</div>
<br />
<div>
So it is that time again, I am linking up with the ever so fabulous <a href="http://moderncamelot.com/">Kelly</a>, <a href="http://tblfor3.blogspot.ca/">Megan</a> and <a href="http://www.dramababyblog.com/">Lindsay</a> for another Trendy Tot Tuesday ( or TTT whatever floats your boat) I've missed the past few TTT because of, well, life. It got in the way (dang it) and I went back to work (part time but last week I work 4 days- I'm a substitute teacher, so technically I could work full time in one week and not in another) Okay, enough chitter chatter about me, let's see what we have in store for this lovely Tuesday morning (and by lovely I mean curl up and cry because I am so dang tired, my 4 year old decided that 3:30am was morning and woulldn't.go.back.to.sleep!!! Argh!)</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Here we are , back to school and work but that doesn't mean we can't have a fun weekend morning play session outside and while dressing Miss M up for little mini photo shoots is super fun, sometimes it is great just to catch her in the moment and most of the times those are the best smiles I get. She loves to run around and get dirty but she is also my little girly girl. A couple weekends ago we headed outside to play and I bought the camera for fun. This is what I captured.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg59Bp5OtBSsnC0hS_z7QD47A6LEyjxVNB5zg65bLH3r5jAlFzNuOY_LTwEHVxqK-5IG_r9Z10GqSfoPSslR3Zpn4BZagulisRU8Txiy6U-NsMScM5ew6sAEdwgNcqOfoe3ZM1TT3Pq3I4/s1600/Maddie+smile.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg59Bp5OtBSsnC0hS_z7QD47A6LEyjxVNB5zg65bLH3r5jAlFzNuOY_LTwEHVxqK-5IG_r9Z10GqSfoPSslR3Zpn4BZagulisRU8Txiy6U-NsMScM5ew6sAEdwgNcqOfoe3ZM1TT3Pq3I4/s320/Maddie+smile.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Please mom, I want to swing!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So sometimes we have to remember to take the camera out even if we don't plan on taking pictures because you never know when the mood might strike our little ones.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Therefore I can post whenever I like. I can type up a post while the kidlets are napping or when they are playing <strike>so very well</strike> civil to each other. Now it's September which means kids are back to school and so are teachers, so alas substitutes are needed and that is where I come into account. I've been working pretty much every day since school started back. This whole full time employment and mother thing is tough work. I barely have enough time to think straight let alone type up a post, take pictures, edit them and then get it all published. I promise that I won't stop posting, I have a million ideas for posts and I can't wait to show y'all some great things I've been doing around the house. I am also thinking of adding a "What I Wore Wednesday" since I am working I've been trying some new styles and doing a <strike>little</strike> lot of shopping.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17729809091370326402noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1761874569634836130.post-77652742862772920782013-09-09T05:56:00.003-07:002013-09-09T05:56:50.615-07:00It all started with curtainsOk. So I started the playroom once I had the inspiration fabric, I was on a roll and I wanted to get that room finished. Of course being who I am, I spend a <strike>little</strike> way too much time on pinterest and I came across this:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://media-cache-ec0.pinimg.com/736x/96/f0/2f/96f02f31f0d9547b459f2c28860330bf.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://media-cache-ec0.pinimg.com/736x/96/f0/2f/96f02f31f0d9547b459f2c28860330bf.jpg" width="213" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
and this...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/4f/95/a2/4f95a2fdb60cb49bf6edfa881f3e61a1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/4f/95/a2/4f95a2fdb60cb49bf6edfa881f3e61a1.jpg" width="243" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
and this one...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/99/3a/ba/993aba426c6552a5d4cd46b143933d17.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/99/3a/ba/993aba426c6552a5d4cd46b143933d17.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
and finally this one:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-wMIvbDVoHGs/UUklY9BqxKI/AAAAAAAAP1g/HmZ9IFQEEMA/diningfull%25255B4%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="242" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-wMIvbDVoHGs/UUklY9BqxKI/AAAAAAAAP1g/HmZ9IFQEEMA/diningfull%25255B4%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.athoughtfulplaceblog.com/2013/03/home-tour-from-thoughtful-place.html">A Thoughtful Place Blog</a></div>
<br />
I was in love, no seriously these curtains are the bees knee. I love them, but as some bloggers were doing was buying <a href="http://www.westelm.com/products/stripe-shower-curtain-feather-gray-b985/?pkey=cshower-curtains&cm_src=shower-curtains||NoFacet-_-NoFacet-_--_-">these</a> shower curtains from West Elm and adding an additional band of fabric. No, I'm too cheap (seriously I am) spending $42 one one shower curtain (although now they are on sale for $32) So I went to the fabric store and bought myself 10 meters of fabric (5m of each color) and started to make curtains....<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgi1ErhFS9DHkjO-RQpq3RnpKmRaPYms9ozWv1Izx84JhlQK2xFffpxupqc6723bSq5RA4DStmPKtAsx1cOnkhAzLEaN8eL6y1doWKOllZrg1FSnShnNmU_UH-Z_bOwKfRPHPAnyf7lTCw/s1600/IMG_3064.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgi1ErhFS9DHkjO-RQpq3RnpKmRaPYms9ozWv1Izx84JhlQK2xFffpxupqc6723bSq5RA4DStmPKtAsx1cOnkhAzLEaN8eL6y1doWKOllZrg1FSnShnNmU_UH-Z_bOwKfRPHPAnyf7lTCw/s320/IMG_3064.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
for the DINING ROOM! It was a project that I wasn't anticipating to do. When we moved into this house 4 years ago, I knew that I wanted to update the color on the walls. I mean, it wasn't that these colors were horrible. I could live with the colors for a while, it wasn't like they were so unbearable like our first house. Man, I wish I had pictures of some of the rooms, they were just un.be.lieve.a.ble! Here's an example of what we HAD to change</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEitnm8aeQMlMa_azrLm817bPn2mJVkSXn7wwKHhCC9ikcaQ1QR_Y5ldrHbpMAd1uZ_ZoP1DcZluwq-YLYi0ozzlWSqb1SRHSjQVROOsyIgjXPPyyK0FsTy8VoNXgQ_H0kdhEGYRqJx757s/s1600/DSC01357.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEitnm8aeQMlMa_azrLm817bPn2mJVkSXn7wwKHhCC9ikcaQ1QR_Y5ldrHbpMAd1uZ_ZoP1DcZluwq-YLYi0ozzlWSqb1SRHSjQVROOsyIgjXPPyyK0FsTy8VoNXgQ_H0kdhEGYRqJx757s/s320/DSC01357.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
That was our kitchen, mushroom wallpaper and all. It was so gross!</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiIun6BTIhgwuZhj1OA8QXUMen9Pa3JuZWs5pkZcVYVpVO1fIW6uFhVEps4s_WeccbWaHBk6DSg4ecuv032kVvWdu7Fccj36MrxFSFHesud_F_ENL1rFa_n6fF8HEwW-GA29BENoFQGrr0/s1600/DSC01369.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiIun6BTIhgwuZhj1OA8QXUMen9Pa3JuZWs5pkZcVYVpVO1fIW6uFhVEps4s_WeccbWaHBk6DSg4ecuv032kVvWdu7Fccj36MrxFSFHesud_F_ENL1rFa_n6fF8HEwW-GA29BENoFQGrr0/s320/DSC01369.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Yes, folks that is a forest green ceiling!</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjCdE94veXnfGED1QkQGW3WOjr48829kBf9Ypk_oFtsFhYc1Amfx6BpGrqbEA3usqpY-dFWkWbfXQpnJyr2djLv9fO968eJxy4T0nQFdcUB9NXAEiFm9mzx9rYVtUh25oVHWMbKSwHFjk0/s1600/DSC01313.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjCdE94veXnfGED1QkQGW3WOjr48829kBf9Ypk_oFtsFhYc1Amfx6BpGrqbEA3usqpY-dFWkWbfXQpnJyr2djLv9fO968eJxy4T0nQFdcUB9NXAEiFm9mzx9rYVtUh25oVHWMbKSwHFjk0/s320/DSC01313.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
and this was the <strike>best</strike> worst room ever! Black, red and wallpaper.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So when we bought this current place, one of our criteria was a move in ready place. If we wanted to do work we could in the future. So fast forward, here we are 4 years later and I was sick of this: </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg3Chi6tRNrMPrDHWudqUXSM5iquvCe7WeYFDrhkRiTtBn8GrJXb4Te8jh6C7OQJ2MWZOU7lREXdJNnMkW_XfozdB1i2hQYYd6p2W__YwYt9lTEmRFIN8Pe3QyJnf2vhVRHRwlJCt8iJz8/s1600/dining+before1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg3Chi6tRNrMPrDHWudqUXSM5iquvCe7WeYFDrhkRiTtBn8GrJXb4Te8jh6C7OQJ2MWZOU7lREXdJNnMkW_XfozdB1i2hQYYd6p2W__YwYt9lTEmRFIN8Pe3QyJnf2vhVRHRwlJCt8iJz8/s320/dining+before1.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So I decided to change it. I started with the curtains, and of course it had a trickle down effect. If I was making new curtains I might as well paint and finish the entire room. Here's the curtains, I think I did an okay job with them, being the beginner sewer that I am. The lines stayed pretty straight (I hope)and here's how I did it.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I started by buying my fabric (of course) Then I had to cut all of my strips (20 in total, 10 white & 10 grey) </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhtFObCjhX3PvKqNhKxe-kXVDBHO_m8FA2dG5GPmfH8SZ68SH308y0_UGBL58pCtXS2KGibATDg0bBwdxn9BBnuC9oAEUkE4lmBUGcRRQGdW0_QhEoeFcykd-OQvcnZa5KRdF_CRi-z45A/s1600/IMG_3066.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhtFObCjhX3PvKqNhKxe-kXVDBHO_m8FA2dG5GPmfH8SZ68SH308y0_UGBL58pCtXS2KGibATDg0bBwdxn9BBnuC9oAEUkE4lmBUGcRRQGdW0_QhEoeFcykd-OQvcnZa5KRdF_CRi-z45A/s320/IMG_3066.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I used a table cloth runner as my guide, it was the perfect width for each stripe. I then iron all of my pieces. I really wanted to skip this step, but you can't. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiYGSiTFze52D1PHpmsBMfVyBjfa-2P6s9zo3GruWwbSXXEcPXeQdWs_Vyqjxn72-XvejgIdhrt1USp7JdIR0Hteho_AUwLonRRFmRu4MDLz60DbCR4iwPT6mt0S3h3TDT_cWjLHe2J6tQ/s1600/IMG_3070.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiYGSiTFze52D1PHpmsBMfVyBjfa-2P6s9zo3GruWwbSXXEcPXeQdWs_Vyqjxn72-XvejgIdhrt1USp7JdIR0Hteho_AUwLonRRFmRu4MDLz60DbCR4iwPT6mt0S3h3TDT_cWjLHe2J6tQ/s320/IMG_3070.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Then I head to the sewing machine and sewed two pieces together. Once I finished them all (10 in total) I headed back to the ironing board and iron each panel. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Then I repeated these steps again until I had a total of 10 stripes on each panel. After that, I lined the panels with a cheap ($5.97) curtain from Wal-Mart and sewed that on and voila, I have curtains. I am. in.love with them. Here's a breakdown of the cost:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
5 meters of grey fabric- $13</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
5 meters of white fabric- $7</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
2 cheap curtains for lining-$12</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
thread-$8 (I needed 3 spools)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Total= $40</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So I guess in the end I could have bought the West Elm shower curtain and it would have saved me a lot of time and energy but at least this way I have custom curtains (I have to look at the bright side) and also my curtains are also 48" wide where the west elm ones would have only been 36" wide. So here they are hanging in my dining room, I still love them.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjp2NowXSHBBT2OrwbMirjq-R5Ja2lbAEcSxNo8cosQ_VEykkbYrcj0Rqvmv1AJ7aOmWGFNzUIxy3vpvRz6M90cd5r6Wpd1sy-yWIEbGnETWJcSN_0xrkBFCTebLun6O_kMQYxcWlamIwA/s1600/IMG_3155.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjp2NowXSHBBT2OrwbMirjq-R5Ja2lbAEcSxNo8cosQ_VEykkbYrcj0Rqvmv1AJ7aOmWGFNzUIxy3vpvRz6M90cd5r6Wpd1sy-yWIEbGnETWJcSN_0xrkBFCTebLun6O_kMQYxcWlamIwA/s320/IMG_3155.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Now I have to finish the playroom. Off I go....</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

All of these things remind me of autumn. I love the fall season. It makes me giddy with glee. It's the time that all my television shows return to TV (waiting <strike>patiently </strike> for Parenthood to start back up), children return to school (although that also means I return to work), and the thing that I love the most is the clothing. After a long hot summer I look forward to being able to wear jeans and sweaters. I can not wait to dig out my scarves. It's the best time of year because you don't need to bundle up in crazy layers like in the winter time but you can wear a sweater without sweating to pieces. Most of my favorite fall looks are very casual and I can probably get away with wearing them on a casual Friday but not during the week to work.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I just love this layered look of the short shelve sweater over a long white tee.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I am *in love* with the over sized poncho sweater with the boots and skinny jeans. You could also throw on a white long sleeve tee if it's a cooler day.</div>

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Evening date night with hubs. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So now that I've covered some of my favorite casual looks I should throw in some weekday school looks.</div>

Great for school. I simply adore plum and pencil skirts!</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Perfect! dress, belt, scarf and flats. All ready for work and fall.</div>

All these looks are making me have the urge to head out shopping and buy some new things. I need to go through my closet first and see what I have to work with and what I will need. Will I have the will to wait? We'll see ;)</div>

<br />
I can not believe that it is September, seriously, Sep.tem.ber!! Back to school, back to work and my baby boy turns 4! Yes, four years old! Where in the world has the time gone. One minute I was overdue thinking that he would never make his entrance into this world. He was 14 days, 2 long, hot weeks overdue. I was even induced for 3 days and he didn't want to leave. He was super cozy and didn't want to go anywhere. He finally did arrive and he was a beautiful, healthy little boy. *sigh* and now he'll be 4 *tear* Anyways, this weekend was full of fun and a lot of relaxation. No big plans for the long weekend, it's the last weekend before school heads back, which means I will be back to work.<br />
<br />
Tuesday marks my <strike>baby </strike>big boys second year of preschool and his first year in a program called "Kinderstart" It is a program that'll prepare him for primary (kindergarten) next year. I can't believe the difference in him from last year, when he was just starting preschool for the first time. He seemed such the little boy.<br />
<br />

<span style="font-size: x-small;">(this picture was taken with my cell phone from my DSLR)</span></div>
<br />
Another big difference besides age is last year I could pick out his clothes. You'll notice the nice plaid Janie and Jack shorts from last year. This year he picked out jogging pants and bought himself a tee shirt from WalMart that has Tree Rex (from Skylander) on it. Oh well, he's happy. I'm happy. Isn't that all that matters?Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17729809091370326402noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1761874569634836130.post-7851954783863305332013-08-30T09:18:00.001-07:002013-08-30T09:18:17.029-07:00Friday Fun!Do you ever wonder what life would be like if you won the lottery? Do you think you would continue working? Travel? What home renovations would you do? There are so many inspirational pictures out there in the blog world, from simple DIY to extreme renovations. Like I have mentioned in another post, next year we will have our student loan debt paid off. That means we will have some extra money to finally put into the house. The basement is high on my list of renovations, as is the backyard. I've already showed my dreams for the basement, so now I'll go through some of my backyard ideas. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://media-cache-ec0.pinimg.com/736x/3d/9a/80/3d9a80b10c5fca8e40083e32a8911c48.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://media-cache-ec0.pinimg.com/736x/3d/9a/80/3d9a80b10c5fca8e40083e32a8911c48.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
So who doesn't need a television in their screened in porch? Seriously, I am in.love.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://media-cache-ec0.pinimg.com/736x/37/5e/42/375e42f803d8ba7d92f781c1f444d05e.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://media-cache-ec0.pinimg.com/736x/37/5e/42/375e42f803d8ba7d92f781c1f444d05e.jpg" width="266" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/50/e7/f1/50e7f1b09bc3caec55bb07b6fca8f4a7.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/50/e7/f1/50e7f1b09bc3caec55bb07b6fca8f4a7.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Outdoor fireplaces are awesome. This second one is really what I would love. I can just picture all of us, our friends and their kids roasting marshmallows and really enjoying the evening. We are still trying to decide if we should go with an above ground pool with a wrap around deck (much more cost effective) or go all out and do an in ground pool with stamped concrete and beautiful landscaping. We were given quotes for both and there seems to be cost to a $40,000 difference between the two- craziness! So we are looking at both options right now. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/5b/29/02/5b29026ebca534e8194d7e4dfd7c38e8.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/5b/29/02/5b29026ebca534e8194d7e4dfd7c38e8.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This above ground pool is really nice, although my main dining area wouldn't be right next to the water! Seriously, they can't have kids! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://media-cache-ec0.pinimg.com/736x/11/d9/58/11d958125a312fbe13ac28ab85d782dc.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://media-cache-ec0.pinimg.com/736x/11/d9/58/11d958125a312fbe13ac28ab85d782dc.jpg" /></a></div>
This above ground pool even has a slide and a hot tub!! Love it!<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://media-cache-ec0.pinimg.com/736x/24/0d/c2/240dc2834974d1904961c8824bbd0cdc.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="237" src="http://media-cache-ec0.pinimg.com/736x/24/0d/c2/240dc2834974d1904961c8824bbd0cdc.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
This in ground pool is a.maz.ing!! So relaxing. Either way, above ground or in ground I would really like a little area for the kids to change into their swim gear, like this one. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://media-cache-ec0.pinimg.com/736x/79/83/34/7983349e6b625a638ac9afe78ca84c1d.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://media-cache-ec0.pinimg.com/736x/79/83/34/7983349e6b625a638ac9afe78ca84c1d.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
What would you spend your money on? Do you think an above ground pool could be as beautiful as an in ground? These decisions are really hard for me to make. Sometimes I want to go all out with the in ground pool but then other times I really don't want to spend the money on it when there are so many other things that I want to do with the house. Heck, there are so many places and things I want to do with my kids, so many memories I want to make with them. Camping, family vacations, play dates with friends. Decisions, decisions, decisions.....</div>

The last two TTT posts have focused on Little Miss M and while she is momma's little fashionista, my little man C has a cute wardrobe as well. Dressing him for the fall will be <strike>just</strike> close to as much fun as dressing Miss M will be. So <br />
without further ado here is some of the stylish attire I hope to be dressing Mister C in this coming autumn season. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/f3/a9/05/f3a905ada3c0f53fd99f21c9a6274be0.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/f3/a9/05/f3a905ada3c0f53fd99f21c9a6274be0.jpg" /></a></div>
I simply just adore this outfit from head to toe. The yellow shirt layered with the blue sweater and the green khaki's is just perfect.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/0e/cc/ae/0eccae8d783f32a45156a2bdedb05bd5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/0e/cc/ae/0eccae8d783f32a45156a2bdedb05bd5.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
I never thought that I would want C to wear skinny jeans but these are just perfect. I love the causal shirt layered with the plaid over shirt.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/9e/57/c3/9e57c3899787cb41038d166e76085a66.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/9e/57/c3/9e57c3899787cb41038d166e76085a66.jpg" /></a></div>
You can NEVER go wrong with Janie and Jack! This cable knit sweater is so adorable. C has so many J & J sweaters I found at a local thrift store (yes, I paid literally pennies for them) and they are now too small but I will never have the heart to get rid of them because I love them so much and they bring so many memories.<br />
<a href="http://media-cache-ec0.pinimg.com/736x/e0/6e/36/e06e3686aa7c4c9500e603f7454a7fcc.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://media-cache-ec0.pinimg.com/736x/e0/6e/36/e06e3686aa7c4c9500e603f7454a7fcc.jpg" width="241" /></a><a href="http://media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/40/89/08/408908d7298d541e58fa488ba39216ef.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/40/89/08/408908d7298d541e58fa488ba39216ef.jpg" width="241" /></a><br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I just love the bright color of this cardi and maybe pair it with this blue and white plaid shirt and jeans it would be amazing! I.love.it!!</div>
<br />
Although in reality, since Mister C has a mind of his own (and being nearly 4 years old) he tends to not let me dress him as much as I would like. So he'll probably be sporting something like this spiderman shirt and jogging pants most days.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://media-cache-ec0.pinimg.com/736x/5f/c0/3f/5fc03f9cb3026db3153457baee85cde6.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://media-cache-ec0.pinimg.com/736x/5f/c0/3f/5fc03f9cb3026db3153457baee85cde6.jpg" width="241" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/72/95/e0/7295e0f6b2de7a82a00979bc84e99f9e.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/72/95/e0/7295e0f6b2de7a82a00979bc84e99f9e.jpg" width="241" /></a></div>
But that is okay because as long as he is happy and comfortable that is all that matters (and I will take advantage of those days that he'll let me dress him)<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

The big reveal will be soon y'all, I promise. So I finally (even though I am as slow as molasses) got around to making the curtains for the playroom. I've shown you the wonderful, beautiful fabric that I bought for them.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhulM1Me1PLJoOUBHj4oQ74bEjUBnj5P6yupj0mGaP7ScPirKlktHsh89CtoE3yqWtmchiLaqDJejuscXOKuTCwT7VFoen4uW_ZGt3c3xTTgHbJKoveLVJye21a193hfnGbqfSTe3q7GUI/s1600/IMG_2996.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhulM1Me1PLJoOUBHj4oQ74bEjUBnj5P6yupj0mGaP7ScPirKlktHsh89CtoE3yqWtmchiLaqDJejuscXOKuTCwT7VFoen4uW_ZGt3c3xTTgHbJKoveLVJye21a193hfnGbqfSTe3q7GUI/s320/IMG_2996.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Well, that fabric just sat around on my desk a while. Every.single.time I would go to the sewing machine something would happen, a child would need attention, the thread would break, the bobbin was threaded incorrectly (this was the story of my life). Finally today I was able to get everything in order and as soon as Ms. M went to bed I started. Now readers beware, I am NOT a avid sewer, I just like to think I am ;) I make curtains, pillow covers, blankets...things with straight lines. I probably don't do everything right, I <strike>always</strike> NEVER pin. I just hope I go in a straight line. Things work out usually, they are not perfect but I am okay with this. Life isn't always perfect but my products usually turn out nice and everyone is happy with them!<br />
<br />
Firstly I threaded the machine.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi0YrlWyrgpsWubjALJaTgmssydtoNyHkFtptA79Xd6UlNKrSJUlCqRqYphLyjlcxVy4VZVc9tblTijUzxi5ptMhbgKP8mtdbXeR3tmFCg6F5u6n3yjTRZRe7VXKP6BwiP2XkNBdSsKx4Y/s1600/IMG_3003.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"></a> </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgwmXcrU4VFXOE6QmVasVEfCFUrNUE4RL93uxdp4x7ACOVwcTYiDY1_3lSNO-JwL1sSchz5kGDjpUms6Yn0l_CxBiseDFhX2HftK5FQnJ2ARvt7IvWGcZ_udq2F0GEj2_RWXFOgtTKiHIw/s1600/sewing.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgwmXcrU4VFXOE6QmVasVEfCFUrNUE4RL93uxdp4x7ACOVwcTYiDY1_3lSNO-JwL1sSchz5kGDjpUms6Yn0l_CxBiseDFhX2HftK5FQnJ2ARvt7IvWGcZ_udq2F0GEj2_RWXFOgtTKiHIw/s320/sewing.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Then (and some people would frown at me) I started to sew. I pray that I continue to go in a straight line ( doesn't usually happen) but I can <strike>always</strike> usually stay within my folded line.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgzZlpwi6qCcDiJioT8tQFgf4RbGDSQE6NP7AOTg5eJ0_kX6h3QqheA_yLte4s1UI8nMrwJvPtLv4NkxOI8XhlT1MOtywnCtxIlHX80f07mOX7ovBTPngivkc7erOPiMpGD5CbmZgl3VEI/s1600/IMG_3003.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgzZlpwi6qCcDiJioT8tQFgf4RbGDSQE6NP7AOTg5eJ0_kX6h3QqheA_yLte4s1UI8nMrwJvPtLv4NkxOI8XhlT1MOtywnCtxIlHX80f07mOX7ovBTPngivkc7erOPiMpGD5CbmZgl3VEI/s320/IMG_3003.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgCz3Os9e9sA0SLPP6IHV7pdCeYdirj6fYTg_7rxgSGrLb8BkOe7eYGJI7SI7FyvB6ChzBSEFjhcU4667vbe4fnDIlAJ7h4uhAySEd7f9QNw4vcVJKCAf2GAgc0niB1Vx4GZa-lFHrj1Ac/s1600/sewmachine.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"></a> </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj2cmDoK-Qgi0WOhmkrqzFNATURmASLeIC759B4pYigIm9ERCOmbcf3wDhoLCeUAL4JywSquLlIfhEBQHuLxOjUGkjozccnJAJD-rRvQb6EJ47Rvnxra2xPM5kPFXKpCZE431fsTOZ9Omc/s1600/IMG_3002.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj2cmDoK-Qgi0WOhmkrqzFNATURmASLeIC759B4pYigIm9ERCOmbcf3wDhoLCeUAL4JywSquLlIfhEBQHuLxOjUGkjozccnJAJD-rRvQb6EJ47Rvnxra2xPM5kPFXKpCZE431fsTOZ9Omc/s320/IMG_3002.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Then voila, you have curtains. I love them and I believe they give the room some personality. C loves them too.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhP-AQHatJ7mg_utV9F77BVtGT1BG6IbD-H6uZSwPL_o6Tcv-HJRnME6ODwkYcVsm_YmLAEQYsYLlsi4MMgJOjgmkbJP8bEHKe0rr-8lAE47R3ZBYCkhMxY_38VEk4mW79QbokWCccY2q0/s1600/curtains2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhP-AQHatJ7mg_utV9F77BVtGT1BG6IbD-H6uZSwPL_o6Tcv-HJRnME6ODwkYcVsm_YmLAEQYsYLlsi4MMgJOjgmkbJP8bEHKe0rr-8lAE47R3ZBYCkhMxY_38VEk4mW79QbokWCccY2q0/s320/curtains2.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Another great thing about this material is that it is an indoor/outdoor fabric which I figure will work out great in a playroom meant for little kids and their little sticky fingers!<br />
<br />
I also got around to hanging my alphabet cards. My idea of twine and mini clothespins was an EPIC FAIL! The cards were too heavy, and they came crashing down. I just put them up using sticky tac. I think they look great. Pictures of that will come very soon. I still have a few more projects to do before I post the full playroom reveal, but I think the room is coming along very nicely.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17729809091370326402noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1761874569634836130.post-81693530678218448852013-08-22T11:09:00.004-07:002013-08-22T11:09:54.249-07:00Inspiration Thursday: Home Renovations...WWYD?So come this June (2014) both hubs and I will have our student loans paid off- yup, you heard that correctly. The huge amount of money that goes to paying off our education will be gone- halleluiah! So that means we can have some fun and finally do some home renovations like I have been dreaming about for the past 8 years. One slight problem, I'm so <strike>patient</strike> impatient I want to do everything all at once, but I am learning that can't be done so now it is the big decision of what to do first and really how much we want to spend. So today's fun is a little look at what I would like to do to our little nest :)<br />

I love the light cabinets and light counters with a simple white subway backsplash. So classic and elegant and I will have to get some stainless appliances.</div>

A small basement bar, hubs really wants this. I want it to be a creamy white color though to go with my nautical coastal beach house feel I want for the basement. (also add a microwave above the sink)</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
There are just so many decisions, hubs really wants a pool, I want the basement. The issue is how are we going to decide and come to a compromise. I think a pool should be last and even as much as I would love one now, I just can't justify the price that one will cost. Basically for the amount that a pool and everything that comes with it would cost we could do a lot of our interior work plus some exterior (screened in porch and side step). So over the next while we'll have to come up with a decision and hopefully we'll agree.....</div>

Literally, they are everywhere. If your house is anything like mine, the toys start in one room and trickle into every.other.room! Seriously, I don't know how my children do it. They start off in one room and the next thing you know is there is a Hansel and Gretel <strike>cookie</strike> toy trail down the hallway into the kitchen, dining room and living room (which also leads up the stairs to the bedrooms and surprisingly the bathroom as well) I just couldn't take it anymore. We had a playroom, it just wasn't working for us. There wasn't enough storage space to host all those toys. I needed more shelves but really didn't want to fork out the money to buy new white ones. <br />
<br />
"Ah-ha" I had 3 laminate blonde colored bookcases down in my basement. They really weren't serving a purpose. A while ago I had all of my teaching materials on them but then I got some new shelving and was using that. So I decided to search the lovely internet to find some tutorials on how to paint laminate products and I came across this <a href="http://www.centsationalgirl.com/2010/04/go-right-ahead-and-paint-that-laminate/">one</a> from Centsational Girl. She really sums it up nicely, so instead of me trying to go through the process step by step in great detail you should just go and visit her blog, she's awesome! <br />
<br />
I started by sanding my bookcases lightly (sorry no pic). Then I dusted off the, well, dust.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjugkwtCYrmPp5AnBh-_oikghA9_JHLL5aNXrOoQrUc4UNafQTOvExUrWl26uGVWLbU-Tc-ou5WjStqrWLKG7HF5TfrvpVpmLaKVBc6PjDEnhv1OVJTvQphazlmwuZ6Atv0WSxOO9RW9-w/s1600/paint+playroom+cabinet.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"></a> </div>

<span style="font-size: x-small;">Here I am getting ready to start priming.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Like Kate says, make sure to use a good primer. I used Cover Stain BIN oil based primer and it went on as smooth as butt-er!<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: x-small;">It was beautiful out so I was able to do my painting outside, made for quick drying! </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I then let those dry overnight. I stored them in my barn. The next morning (after I dropped the kidlets off at preschool and the babysitters) I tackled the rest of this project. I used some left over paint that I had lying around to save some cash. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgxOGXms88lAnW6De7w2ywNrfBe0L00F01rDKzk-RYqjO6STLHExDPO-2nP7Qd19DAW0BfYRQ-FAsJjQEHgHTCQJawkUVDNDeng8-izYS5V2_QzQFC1Y7SU_X_s-QQnLQRE2TkuJL8eT4I/s1600/IMG_2620.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgxOGXms88lAnW6De7w2ywNrfBe0L00F01rDKzk-RYqjO6STLHExDPO-2nP7Qd19DAW0BfYRQ-FAsJjQEHgHTCQJawkUVDNDeng8-izYS5V2_QzQFC1Y7SU_X_s-QQnLQRE2TkuJL8eT4I/s320/IMG_2620.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: x-small;">Paint</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
After I painted, I let them dry and since it was so darn hot out they dried within an hour. I then repeated this step twice. Once they were fully dried I wanted to add some "pop" of color to the backs. I couldn't find a wallpaper in stock that I loved, nor could I find any fabric at the fabric store. So while I was at Wally World getting my necessary things I came across these outdoor table clothes on clearance for $2...Yup...SCORE! I loved the geometric print and it was navy blue. Perfecto. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiJGonsCkBtg08s38dU6U1KgJjQ7ki7M-uWfpK-zJfGlaHfe_feaX27KDkVyWckwr2NrZqOCtfpooaxwQgIwFnhBODdjAjVhiqsLjrbedFFMvv4MZ3w9ZAR1k6Y-Qa7pK60gI4vfKwr7w0/s1600/IMG_2622.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiJGonsCkBtg08s38dU6U1KgJjQ7ki7M-uWfpK-zJfGlaHfe_feaX27KDkVyWckwr2NrZqOCtfpooaxwQgIwFnhBODdjAjVhiqsLjrbedFFMvv4MZ3w9ZAR1k6Y-Qa7pK60gI4vfKwr7w0/s320/IMG_2622.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: x-small;">Fabric tablecloth for back of bookcases.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I laid the cloth out and made my necessary cuts and lined the backs of the bookcases. I was going to use a fabric glue but that didn't work so I just used hot glue on the corners to hold it in place and then I nailed the backings back on the bookcases. </div>

Hope you enjoy reading!!<br />
<br />
With August rounding to an end it makes me start thinking about autumn and cooler weather. Jeans, tights, leggings, boots. It just makes me smile with glee and while we still have beach days left and a few weeks before the weather completely cools down, I can't help but dream and plan Madeline's Fall wardrobe for this year. Madeline had the most adorable fall wardrobe last year and even though she was only 6 months old, she was still rocking her fashionable fall attire. She had ponchos and boots and dresses with leggings. It was all so cute. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
This year with her walking I am thinking of lots of dresses with leggings and boots. I can also see her in some cute sweaters and jeans, maybe even a pair of skinny jeans with boots and a poncho. <br />

As you with children can imagine sometimes life can be a little hectic. Children fall, hurt themselves, cry, and are super needy at times. While that was not my case. My weekend started on Thursday and we had a blast!! We were so busy I'll give you a little re-cap of all our awesome-ness ;) </span></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: inherit; font-size: small;"></span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: inherit;">The exhibition was in town and so needless to say while hubs was at work Momma, C & M headed over to "The Ex" with Nana and Papa. C had so much fun! He loved all the rides, food, games and animals. We got a few pictures and if y'all follow me on Instagram I posted a few there. Little Miss M <strike>loved</strike> really disliked the carousal. I tried to take her picture on the horse but she wouldn't even sit on it. </span><br />

The Prizes (which of course we didn't win any)</div>
<br />
<span style="font-family: inherit;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: inherit;">Little kidlets stayed with Nana and Papa for a sleepover and momma headed home to spend sometime with hubs and a nice bottle of vino! We chatted, watched a movie and relaxed. Saturday morning we both slept in,<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-size: small;"> went out to breakfast with the hubs, grocery shopped without children in tow (which is a wonderful, wonderful feeling), got some quotes on in ground versus above ground pools (including hot tubs), went to a fabric store and did some shopping for a friend. It was a lovely day and while I missed my children, it was</span> <span style="font-size: small;">definitely nice to have some time alone with the hubs and then some momma (wait...it wasn't momma instead I should say "Jen") time. </span></span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: inherit;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: inherit;">So what did I buy at the fabric store you might be wondering?? Why some fabric for the playroom of course, beautiful, fun, modern fabric for some curtains.</span><br />

<span style="font-family: inherit;">Isn't it beautiful?! I love it. It's so fun and I love the green and navy combination. I think it is going to look great with the white bookcases and the geometric navy & white backing. (sneak peek of that coming this week) I am so excited for the playroom to come together. Both of the fabrics are indoor/outdoor material so they will be extra durable for little fingers.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: inherit;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: inherit;">On Saturday we laid low and relaxed. Took the kids out to play, maybe did a little work in the playroom and hubs did something with his homemade wine.</span> <br />

Then on Sunday, hubs went golfing and I headed with some friends and their kids to the beach. SO.MUCH.FUN. Madeline did not enjoy the beach at first, it would be an understatement to say she hated it. Screaming and crying commenced for the first 15 minutes or so of our trip. I guess in reality it isn't that long when you spend 4 hours there but it seemed like an eternity.<br />

It was definitely a weekend for the books, everyone had a blast and we are in the countdown before school starts back, which means back to work for this momma. I am so enjoying summer, I don't want it to end. Kids can drive you nuts, crazy actually, climbing on tables, dumping out bins of toys, hollering "I want a treat" all while the clock hasn't even reached 8 o freakin' am! When you are awake at 6 a.m. it is amazing what you can get accomplished, laundry, dishes, clothes out on the clothesline. So since I get up so early and get so much done I like to take some time for myself. So while my children are playing <strike>so well together (</strike>and) not killing each other, I sit down, enjoy my second cup of hot, beautiful, lovely French vanilla coffee from my Tassimo, I browse and explore the lovely world of pinterest. I <3 pinterest and I recently found out the 2 of my best friends are pinning as well. Funny, I've only been on there for a year and they are finally joining me. I really don't know what the fascination with it is, maybe it's the idea of being able to save all these fabulous ideas into one space, creating boards for everything and anything. Then being able to go to one great website and sort through all these images. It's just such a great tool.<br />
<br />
In keeping with the playroom renovation, there are some fabulous playrooms that I've turned to for inspiration for my kids space.<br />

Two of these three awesome playrooms have that tree stencil wall that can be found <a href="http://www.cuttingedgestencils.com/allover-stencil-birch-forest.html">here</a> and I really, like, REALLY want it, I just don't think I can convince hubs to pay that much for it. So if any of you wonderful people out in blogosphere know where I can get a inexpensive version I'd be ever so grateful! Another element I love is that MASKROS ceiling light from Ikea (found <a href="http://www.ikea.com/ca/en/catalog/products/70190450/">here)</a>. I just love this fixture and wish they shipped it online, who am I kidding I love so many Ikea things and I am in trouble once I can finally get hubs on board to order something. <br />
<br />
So are you pinning? Do you search endlessly on other peoples blogs for fabulous ideas and inspiration?<br />

Kelly from <a href="http://moderncamelot.com/">Modern Camelot</a>, Lindsay from <a href="http://tblfor3.blogspot.ca/">Table for Three</a> and Megan from <a href="http://www.dramababyblog.com/">Baby Mama Drama</a>. These little ones are so adorable and I love reading about their style and fashion each week. <br />
<br />
This week I am going to take about my daughter Madeline and her serious <strike>obsession </strike>love for hats. Madeline is just turning 18 months and has been crazy for hats. This girls loves all accessories , hats, shoes, necklaces, you name it she loves it. Her second and third word was shoe and hat! ;-) She needs to go to bed with a hat on, when she wakes up in the morning I hear "Mama, Mama, Up, oh, hat, hat" and when I walk in to get her she is tapping the top of her head saying "Hat" It's so ab-so-lutely freakin' adorable! I think her daddy is going to be in trouble when this one gets older...;)<br />

While I really envision the playroom in the basement and the basement all finished with beautiful wood looking floors, drywall painted a nice shade of gray and bead board 6' from the floor and our TV down there in a beautiful white built in cabinet. I can just see hubs and C sitting on the gray sectional from Ikea with an abundance of modern, muted gray and white throw pillows and me sitting at my U-shaped desk typing up a post for the blog or crafting. Little Miss M would be over in the playroom section feeding her babies or changing their clothes.</span><br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJ55GSuZYm8aeZIflyG69gHRTIbcurIx7vAb_mlO8bh3VClwILLpPOpu9MjUM3D7bI-PrdC3G759VT7OM4CWBfYFacINTDu5FZPOe9kcEcLU-1SOkREqrUNk3bzCvAMdLLyEzUrOR64IA/s1600/blog+basement.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJ55GSuZYm8aeZIflyG69gHRTIbcurIx7vAb_mlO8bh3VClwILLpPOpu9MjUM3D7bI-PrdC3G759VT7OM4CWBfYFacINTDu5FZPOe9kcEcLU-1SOkREqrUNk3bzCvAMdLLyEzUrOR64IA/s320/blog+basement.jpg" width="320" /></a><br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: xx-small;">(I couldn't find the link this mood board came from, if anyone knows please email me)</span><br />
<br />
I also can envision a more modern space, with a large chocolate brown leather sectional with a million red, navy and yellow modern throw pillows and a fireplace. Although I believe the first vision is more to my style and liking. In both cases the kids play space would look the same and I have grand things in mind....grand I tell you!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://ak2.polyvoreimg.com/cgi/img-set/cid/70818049/id/wznCm8tUQxywMhecRTWE_A/size/y.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://ak2.polyvoreimg.com/cgi/img-set/cid/70818049/id/wznCm8tUQxywMhecRTWE_A/size/y.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
It is a glorious dream and will be a reality someday but that day is sure not today and I need the kids at this age to be near me. So while I would love to have an entire room dedicated to my office I will just have to share with these 2 munchkins (and by share I mean they get the entire room and I get the built in desk in the closet!) Yes, it is not perfect, nor is it what I really want but they are happy and really isn't that all that matters :) So stay tuned, I'll be showing some sneak peaks into what I am doing in the current playroom this week. Sounds easy peesy, right?! Let's hope so! So today's Friday Fun post will be about my crazy children, Connor & Madeline (and for the sake of these posts I'll be referring to them as C & M). <br />
<br />
C is my fun lovin', mild mannered, sweet little 3 (soon to be 4) boy. He loves robots, dinosaurs, trains, cars, planes, Scooby Doo, and well he pretty much loves everything a little boy can love. He is the world's best big brother and loves his sister with all his heart. <br />

M is my sassy, free spirited, hat & shoe lovin' little gal. When she wakes up in the morning she looks for her hat, it's the first thing she says when she see me...not "hi momma" but she pats her head and says "hat". She's one month shy of 1.5 years old. She makes our family complete and balances us out perfectly. <br />

I'm sure y'all can understand, especially if you have young children, that they can make you want to pull out your hair some days. They make us crazy with their toys and their mess and the constant "Mom...MOM I want that" but in the grand scheme of things life without them would be dull and just wouldn't be complete. <br />

I spend so much of my time daily dreaming of what I "could" have, what I really want out of life. Whether this be wanting for home renovations or in the future we "could" possibly build a "bigger" and "better" house. I also dream about when I lose these last 10lbs what clothes I can buy. I read and look through all these a.maz.ing blogs, where everything looks so perfect. There isn't a toy on the floor or a flower out of place. Then I glance around at my living room floor, toys everywhere, dishes in the sink. Chaos. Insanity. Craziness.<br />
<br />
These bloggers that I read daily I love their blogs. They are an amazing group of ladies. So many great ideas and helpful tips; from home organization to renovation to health and fitness. My breakthrough today was, if I can say, is right in the blogs name " Learning to make Lemonade" I am sure y'all have heard the saying "If you have sour lemons, make lemonade" well I might not be able to build a new house or add an addition on at the moment or renovate the basement. What I CAN do is love what I have, organize my clutter and chaos that already exists. I can learn to love the beautiful house that I already own.<br />
<br />
So this blog will be a journey of my self exploration on loving what I have, using the resources available and do my best at DIY.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17729809091370326402noreply@blogger.com0
